However, if it came with leaves, Beet Root leaves are edible and can be used for sautes. *This product is sourced from a no spray/no pesticides farm. We might substitute with 3 smaller size beets if 2 large ones are unavailable. Origin/Usage: The swollen, fleshy taproot, known as Beetroot, both red and white, were developed in Italy (thus known as the “Roman beet”) by selection from the wild beets native to the seascoasts of the Mediterranean. It can be used in Soups, Sandwiches, Pickles, Roasts, Salt-braises, Curries, Slaw, Dips, Salsa, and Desserts/Cakes. Also due to their color, it can be used as a natural food color (pink, yellow, orange etc) in pastas and many other items as beets come in many different colors though most popular ones are dark pink or velvet purple. Nutrition Information: Beets are widely known for medicinal properties. Beets are unique in their rich combination of betalain pigments. Beets are also an excellent source of folate and a very good source of manganese, potassium and copper. They are also a good source of dietary fiber, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin C, iron and vitamin B6. | ||
